For Businesses, Investors & Private Individuals

Practice

Dr. Weger advises on tax disputes, tax-driven corporate structuring, reorganization, succession, and tax-related investigations.

His practice spans both advisory and contentious work. He advises on transactions, M&A processes, and real estate investments, structures ownership and financing arrangements, and represents clients before tax authorities and courts, including the Federal Fiscal Court (Bundesfinanzhof).

He is regularly instructed by entrepreneurial families, family offices, financial institutions, and senior executives in tax audits, administrative appeals, and tax-related investigations, including matters involving Cum-Ex.

Tax Disputes & Tax Defense

Dr. Weger represents clients in tax disputes from the audit stage through to proceedings before the fiscal courts and the Federal Fiscal Court. The work calls for judgment as much as technical analysis. The priority is to identify risk early, protect the client’s position, and resolve disputes in a way that is both legally rigorous and strategically sound. In tax-related criminal and regulatory matters, he pursues a defense strategy directed at limiting financial exposure and reputational harm.

Corporate and Transactional Tax

Dr. Weger advises companies and shareholders on corporate structuring, reorganization, and transactions. His work covers governance arrangements, shareholder and partnership agreements, and the tax aspects of group and holding structures. He also advises on succession in owner-managed businesses, particularly where corporate, family, and cross-border considerations need to be addressed together.

Real Estate Tax

Real estate transactions require careful tax planning and exact execution. Dr. Weger advises on acquisitions, disposals, restructurings, and financing arrangements involving real estate assets and holding structures. His work includes the tax structuring of investments, participation arrangements, and transaction frameworks, with a view to achieving tax efficiency while managing execution and regulatory risk.

International Corporate and Succession Planning

International tax and tax enforcement matters require close analysis, sound judgment, and a firm grasp of cross-border structures. Dr. Weger advises entrepreneurs, family-owned businesses, and high-net-worth individuals on the tax-efficient organization of international corporate and private wealth structures. His work includes the design and implementation of holding structures having regard to income tax, real estate transfer tax, inheritance tax, and gift tax considerations, as well as representation in tax disputes with an international element. He also advises on tax compliance and on succession planning for businesses and private assets across jurisdictions.
